Early original records for Elisha are scarce. Parker, William Alderman: "Aldermans in America" (Raleigh, NC: Edwards and Broughton Co., 1957) is arguably the single most exhaustive study of Alderman pedigree available.
Elisha's first marriage was Oct 1770 in New Haven, Connecticut to SARAH BARNES b. 13 Jul 1750 , daughter of BENJAMIN BARNES and SARAH HILL; Sarah died Bef. 1775. The facts of Elisha's 1st marriage to Sarah Barns are clouded; a marriage about which a 1899 family letter (by Eli Reynolds Alderman) says uncles who knew him report that Elisha forever kept silent.
Elisha's second marriage was 1775 in Schenectady, New York to THANKFUL HUFF, born 19 Mar 1753 in Wall, N. Haven, Connecticut, daughter of ZEPHANIAH HUFF. She died 1829 in Marietta, Washington, Ohio.
Children from this second marriage are:
- Mary b. Mar 4 1777 d. Apr 9 1858 m. 1796 Job Phillips
- Thankful (died young)

"Elisha's son's farm happens to be the JOY Cemetery, Morgan County, Ohio.
The Bartlett Cemetery on the other hand was donated as a cemetery from the James Smith Farms."

There is no source for this info. But the tale that the parents were buried on the son's property may be updated to show the 'Joy Cemetery'.
