David Nims Jr. was born on October 26, 1742 in Keene, Cheshire County, New Hampshire (source: New Hampshire Birth Records 1659-1900). His parents were David Nims Sr. and Abigail Hawkes. He married Jemima carter (daughter of Samuel Carter and Jemima Houghton) on January 1, 1768. They had ten children. The Nimses built a farm in Roxbury, Cheshire County, New Hampshire in 1768 on land that was originally granted to David's father (the house was moved to Keene, and it still exist). David was a member of the Keene militia and served as selectman of Keene. He died on August 30, 1826 in Roxbury.
