A Haywood Co. native, Mrs. Berry lived most of her life in Buncombe Co. She was a daughter of the late Rufus Lee and Julia Mae Smith Greenarch.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her husband, Edward Danny Berry; daughters, Elaine Smathers and Dawn Conard, both of Candler; sons, Ronnie Smathers, of Fletcher, Terry Smathers, of Mills River and Larry Erwin, of Candler; sister, Dorothy Rogers, of Waynesville; brother, Keith Greenarch, of Whittier; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Berry will be at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
