Mary Frances (Billie) Intfen Anderson, 94, Atchison, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
Mary was born June 19, 1916 in Atchison, KS to George and Anna Trainer Intfen.
She was a graduate of Mt. St. Scholastica Academy in 1934 and then received her RN degree from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City. Mary worked as a surgical nurse in hospitals most notably the Atchison Hospital.
She served as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army Nurse Corps in the Phillipines during World War II.
Following her honorable discharge in 1946, she married Winstan L. Anderson, M.D. on April 20 and worked in his office for several years. In 1969 they moved to Lawrence, KS, remaining there until 1984 and then retiring to Sun City West, Arizona, where she volunteered at a nursing home for 17 years. She returned home to Atchison in 2004.
She is survived by her son, Charles, of the home and her loving family of nieces and nephews and stepchildren.
A memorial mass will be at a later time. Burial will be in Sun City, Arizona.
