Strickland and Clara Ethel Quillman, was born July 24, 1915 at Pinckneyville, Illinois and departed this life May 16, 1993, at Meadowbrook Manor, Clinton, at the age of 77. He had lived in this area for 30 years. He moved to Clinton in 1980 upon retirement from 13 years of labor as a Carder for Metro Media Transit Advertising.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II with six years of service in American Samoa and Okinawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Audrey Strickland Herpin and Zelma Strickland Jeffrey. He was also preceded in death by his foster parents, Harry E. Quillman and Clara Welch Quillman.
He is survived by his wife Ethel M. Strickland of the home; brother-in-law George A. Bomher, Chilhowee; sister/cousin Grace Welch Hiller, Marion, Illinois; nephew Terry Hiller and Marty of Carbondale, Illinois; and niece Margaret Ann Hiller Bickenbach and Col. Jerry B. Bickenbach, Ret., Madison, Al.; and beloved by many other nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at the Church of the Nazarene, Clinton, on Friday, May 21, 1993. Graveside services were held at the Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, Illinois, Saturday, May 22, 1993.
