COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 12/28/1985
Joseph B. Mackin, 58, died Thursday at Jewish Hospital. He was a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of Trailmobile Corp., a Navy veteran of World War II and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was former state adjutant of the state Disable American Veterans, former commander of DAV chapter 89 and a leader for the Boy Scout Troop at the Cerebral Palsy School. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Jane Head; six daughters, Mary Lynne and Mary Agnes Mackin, both of Lexington, Rita Fox of Monture Falls, N. Y., Mary Kathleen Mackin of Memphis, Tenn., Mary Helan and Mary Lucille Mackin; a son, Stephen J. Mackin; four sisters, Alice Cecil, Sister Grace C. Mackin, Aline DeMar, all of Nelson County, Patricia Mattingly; five brothers, James D., Leo, Charles A., Francis S. and William P. Mackin, all of Nelson County; and a grandchild. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Drive, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington. Visitation at Barrett Funeral Home, 1230 Bardstown Road, will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
