He was born February 20, 1931, in Overton County, to Eva (Hamby) Smith and the late Ed Smith. He was a truck driver.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ed Smith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie L. and Nora Smith, Ronnie J. and Imalene Smith, both of Monterey; 3 grandchildren, Kenny, Kevin and Lisa Smith of Monterey; and 3 sisters, Addie Stults of Crossville, Mary Spurlin of Dunkirk, IN and Margarette Massimie of Tampa, FL.
