Surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren on Saturday, February 6, 2010, Francis Gomez Pena Aparicio, "La Borrada" entered the gates of Heaven to be with her Heavenly Angels after a lengthy illness while residing four years in Corpus Christi with her daughter, Hilda.

Francis Gomez Pena was born in San Antonio, Texas to Francisco Gomez and Jovita Pena on Saturday, March 24, 1928. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Eutimio and Josefa Pena. Francis was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and siblings: San Juanita Garcia, Federico Pena, Guadalupe "Lupita" Pena (infant daughter), Sonia Garcia (niece), Juan Manuel Garcia (nephew), Juan and Dorotea Aparicio (parents-in-law); brothers-in law: Jesus, Juan, Guadalupe Torres Aparicio and Jose Chavera, one great grandchild, Ann Marie and one son-in-law, Roy Suarez.
She was loved and will be missed by all. Francis is survived by one brother, Jose (Sara) Castillo of League City, Texas. She is also survived by thirteen children: Jose (Mary Louise) Cantu, San Juanita Cantu, Jovita Pena, Cesar (Rebecca) Cantu, and Jesus Pena. Rafael and Francis were married for fifty- seven years and raised eight of the thirteen children: Rafael Jr. (Mereth), Hilda Aparicio Hernandez (companion, Joe Baez), Fred, Juan Pedro (Teresa), Carlos (Mary Helen), David (JoAnn), Francisco and Luis Ray (Nancy) Aparicio. Francis is also survived by forty-two grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, Jaylyn Alexis Valdez, age twenty-six months.

Mother touched so many lives throughout the years with her kindness and loving heart for all who knew her. Many thanks to Christus Spohn Shoreline Matagorda Unit and special thanks to the Kindred Hospital ICU Staff for the many services offered to our Mother.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Taft, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft, and Mother will be laid to rest at San Patricio Memorial Gardens in Portland, Texas following the service.
