Mrs. Padgett was born July 5, 1922 in Hahira, GA, daughter of the late Robert Lee Merriman and the late Lillian Norris Merriman. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the Griffin Ward where she was a member of the relief society all of her adult life and a beloved primary teacher to countless children. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Lewis Padgett, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Charles Lewis Padgett of Griffin; daughters, Melinda Cook wife of Newell Cook of Stockbridge, Judith P. Oliver wife of Jimmy Oliver of Moreland, GA, Beth Jones wife of Terry Jones of Griffin, Pamela Padgett-Rowland wife of Bud Rowland of Birmingham, AL and Andrea Fife wife of Mike Fife of Perry, UT; 24 grandchildren 4 of whom serve in the military; 40 great-grandchildren; brother, James C. Merriman of Forsyth, GA and sister, Evelyn Cannon of Norman Park, GA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Mae Merriman Padgett will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, 605 Maddox Rd. Bishop Kenny Hanekamp will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens.
