Susie Elizabeth Smith DuValle - A native of Montgomery and a long time resident of Mobile, died Thursday, November 11, 2010, in a local hospital at the age of 96. Mrs. DuValle was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Altar Guild and St. Anne's Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Walter Smith and Susie Anna Martin Smith; her son-in-law, G. C. "Sonny" Hendrix, Jr.; her brother, Robert B. (Betsy) Smith; and her sister, Herselie Smith (Max A.) Guillot. Survivors include two daughters, Addice DuValle (Peter) Thomas of Fairfax, VA and Herselie DuValle Hendrix of Crestview, FL and Maggie Valley, NC; seven grandchildren, Katharine Sweigart (Don) McCallum, Elizabeth Sweigart (Bill) Gilliam, Jacqueline Hendrix (Aubrey) Craig, James Ward (Heather) Hendrix, II, all of Crestview, FL, Gethin DuValle (Candace Clay-burn) Thomas, Jonathan Ladd (Sandra) Thomas all of Columbus, IN, and Alicia B. Thomas of Arlington, VA; niece, Susan Smith (Craig) Pierce of Albuquerque, NM; two nephews, Max A. (Betty) Guillot of Mobile and Robert C. (Willella) Guillot of Montgomery; eleven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held from Christ Church Cathedral on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 1900 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36606.
