G. Garland Bryant
George Garland Bryant, 59, who resided in the Gladeville section, near Galax, died in a local hospital Monday March 9.
Born in Carroll County June 7, 1899, Mr. Bryant was a son of the late Harvey A. and Viola Lineberry Bryant.
Surviving Mr. Bryant are his wife, Mrs. Lydia Sexton Bryant; two sons, Beverly E. Bryant, Galax, and Kelly W. Bryant, Waynesburg, Ohio; three sisters Mrs. Myrtle Williams, Norfolk, and Mrs. Minnie Worrell and Mrs. Etta Summers, both of Woodlawn; two brothers, Sid Bryant and Rennie Bryant, both of Woodlawn, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Gladeville Methodist (on the Woodlawn Circuit) Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
The Rev. Eugene Brown pastor of the church; the Rev. Lonnie P. Shaw and Elder C. E. Adams conducted the services.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
The body was removed from Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Tuesday to the Beverly E. Bryant home, RFD 3, Galax, and was placed in the church one hour before the services.
