Gerald Heisel

Gerald L. Heisel, 72, of Lockridge died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his home.

Born June 1, 1938, in Stockport, he was the son of Virgil H. and Loretha M. Watson Heisel. On Aug. 15, 1958, he married Shirley M. Lemley in Fairfield.

Mr. Heisel farmed and worked 34 years at Rockwell International in Fairfield, retiring in 1997.

He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1958. He enjoyed making birdhouses and shelves, visiting with family and friends and doing kind deeds.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Cindy Bolte of Troy, Mo.; one son, Doug Heisel of Ottumwa; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant daughter and his parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The graveside funeral for Mr. Heisel will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Glasgow Cemetery, rural Lockridge with the Rev. Earl Swigart officiating.

Memorials have been established for Hospice of Central Iowa and the family.
