Allen Dies
A "snub-nose 38" was the weapon used in the fatal shooting at the Waffle House parking lot in Garden City early Sunday morning.
Richard "Ricky" E. Allen, 28, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Candler General Hospital Emergency room.
Garden City Police Chief C. L. Thompson said police arrived at the scene and saw the victim lying face down in the restaurant parking lot on Highway 21. He has been shot three times.
Man Arrested
Police said they have one man in custody for the shooting and will arraign him on Monday. They said the two men had an argument over a week ago.
Allen was a native of Chatham County and attended Groves High School. He was a member of the Air National Guard and the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers Association. Allen was also a member of the Alpha Methodist Church of Bloomingdale.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George B. Allen of Bloomingdale, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Allen of Bloomingdale.
Funeral services will be Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Terry Massey Funeral Home with burial in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.
