Sarah was the seventh child of James Wilson and Jane Lusk. She was born on Glessel Farm in Ayrshire, Scotland. She married Gilbert McMillan in 1845 in Ayrshire, Scotland. They came to the United States in 1855 and to Tama Co., in 1856. They lived in a rented house in Old Buckingham Township. They bought land in Crystal Township, in and around Four Mile Grove. They had a chance to buy a small house which they moved on to the property, then they built on to it, a piece at a time as their family increased and they needed more room. This house served them for many years, but one day when they were all away from home they came back in the evening to find that all that was left of their house dwas ashes. It had burned to the ground. But they built another good house which was still standing in 1955. Sarah was a busy woman. She was always at work and liked to see everybody else at work. You didn't have to guess what she thought of you as she would usually tell you. She would sometimes scold about Uncle Mc. She said he would slip away from his work and go down through the grove to Jimmy Patton's where he would sit for an hour listeneing to Jimmie playing the fiddle. To this union were born eight children; Agnes, Jean, Margaret, David, James, Janet, Peter Wilson and Grace. She lived to 85 yrs. of age.
