Pioneer Of Golden Passes Away Monday
Mrs. Sarah Annie Milton. 91, a resident of this area for 70 years. passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Lugg. east of Golden on Monday. April 14. She had been seriously ill for ten weeks. Sarah Annie Tatehell was born March 15, 1856 in Devonshire, England. At the age of 18 she came to the United States and was met in Denver by Mark P. Milton, who has previously settle in Blackhawk, Colo. They were married in Blackhawk, August 27, 1874. In 1878, the Miltons moved to Golden. which has since been her home. Mr. Milton died in 1893. She had lived in Colorado for 71 years and in Jefferson county for 70 years, and was one of the oldest members of the Golden Methodist church. Funeral services will be held at the Woods Mortuary at 2 o'clock today, with Chaplain John R. Edwards officiating. Interment will be in the Golden cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Milton are two daughters, Mrs. Ella Lugg of Golden and Mrs. Ethel Klein of Ojal, Calif.: a son, George Milton of Englewood: and a granddaughter, Mrs. Georgia Lugg-Rose of Golden among her 13 grandchildren. She is also survived by 15, great grand children.
