Joe Louis Aiken, Sr. died Wednesday, August 13, 2010. A native of Asheville born December 11, 1937 he was a son of the late Will and Estelle Phillips Aiken.
Mr. Aiken was a former employee with Tyco Chemical Co., Asheville City Schools and the Asheville Housing Authority.
Surviving are his sons, Joe Aiken, Jr., Michael Baird and Ken Robbs; daughter, Darlene Shade; brother, William Aiken; sisters, Lula Smith, Juanita Aiken and Barbara Robinson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Aiken, sisters, Josephine Aiken and Dorothy O'Hannon.
Services will be held Monday, October 18, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church. Elder David Robinson will officiate, burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Service.
