Hardwick Joyner Colvin, 82, of Shreveport died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Baton Rouge General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
The Lincoln Parish native was a retired professor of history at Northwestern State University and was a member of the American Legion and Broadmoor Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rabenhorst Funeral Home of Baton Rouge with Dr. George Haile and the Rev. Lumen Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Colvin Cemetery at Unionville.
Mr. Colvin's survivors include a daughter, Dorothy C. Howell of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mrs. William H. Cook of Shreveport, Mrs. Lyndon Erroll Dawson of Ruston and Mrs. Allen R. McCoy of El Paso, Texas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Note: Longtime member of Lowe-McFarlane Post No. 14 of the American Legion and Voiture Locale 137 of the 40 & 8. He wrote an impressive history of Post No. 14 that covered the years 1919-1935.
