Son of--
Alexander Osborn (1779-1820)
and
Bethiah Carpenter/Osborn/Gilbert/Scott (1784-1852)

Elijah's mother married three times--
(1) At age 18, on 6 Mar 1803, Bethiah married Alexander Osborn (age 23) in Vermont. Elijah was the first born of the eleven children born of his parents. Alexander passed away in Nova Scotia, Canada (and was buried in a cemetery unknown to this family history compiler as of 21 Dec 2012-dht).

(2) After Elijah's father passed away unexpectedly, Elijah's mother (age 37) married a second time on 16 Sep 1821 in Allegan County, Michigan, to Rufus Gilbert (age 54, 1767-1845) and had three or four children by Rufus.

(3) After the passing of Bethiah's second husband Rufus, she married a third time at age 61, to Enos Scott ("Enos1"; 1774-1863). Enos was a widower with grown children and age 64, when he married Bethiah in Allegan County, Michigan. There was no children from this 'winter marriage'. [Elijah's wife Anna Scott Osborn was the daughter of Enos Scott "Enos1" and Christine Bowman Scott.]

Elijah's mother lived with Elijah and his wife Anna Scott Osborn and their children for a time in Allegan County, Michigan, in the 1840s and 1850s.

Elijah's mother is buried with her second husband Rufus Gilbert and her name is inscribed as "Bethiah Gilbert" on their tomstone, in Miner Cemetery, Allegan County, Michigan.

Elijah and his wife Anna, and Anna's father Enos, are all buried in the same cemetery--West Cooper Cemetery, also known as: Cooper Cemetery; Cooper, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
