Obituary from the Shreveport Journal, May 26, 1987, Tuesday, p. 3-B:

SHREVEPORT – Services for Herman D. Reed, 61, of Shreveport, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday May 27 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. The Rev. Dan Krutz, pastor of St. James Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park West Cemetery.

Mr. Reed, a resident of Shreveport for 51 years, died Monday May 25, 1987, at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Reed was a retired glass cutter for Libbey Owen Ford and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Cedar Grove Post No. 6, where he was a past Commander, the 40 & 8 Club, and was a past Fourth District Commander of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Billie Reed, and his mother, Mrs. Georgia Dufore, of Shreveport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny D. and Kathy Reed of Lompac, Calif., Bennie and Becky Reed of Shreveport; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and David Jackson of Stonewall, La.; a sister, Ruth Sapp of Shreveport, two brothers, Tommy Reed, Shreveport, Jerry Dufore of Keithville, La.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jack Leach, L. D. Anderson, Curtis Hinson, John L. Prudhomme, George Hudsmith III and Robert LaBorde.

Honorary pallbearers: Cedar Grove Post No. 6 of the American Legion.
