A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, Jan. 4, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church South for John E. Barth, who died at the age of 84. Interment was at Hilgen family cemetery at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Mr. Barth graduated with a bachelor’s degree from UW-LaCrosse in 1943 and received his master’s degree from Northwestern University in 1946. He taught physical education at Sheboygan Central High School from 1943-1983, and Cedarburg High School from 1954-1983, where he was the track and football coach. From 1855-1994 he served Cedarburg as the city Recreation Director.

Survivors include: wife of 59 years, Joyce (nee Sinnen); children John Stephen (Beth), Joanne (Ken) Williams, Susan (John Gutman, Walter, and Mary Roberston; grandchildren; Kerry (Todd) Salmon, Meghan (Ryan) Stowers, Nicholas Williams; Emily, Marissa and Christina Gutmann; Matthew and Todd Barth; Kayla and William Robertson II; and Samuel Desmond; great-grandchildren Kegan and Riley Salmon; brother-in-law of Palmer Krueger.

Preceded in death by parents Walter and Lula (Nee Kroehnke) Barth; brother and sister-in-law Mrs. And Mrs. Harold Barth; sister, Arleen Krueger, son-in-law William Robertson; mother-in-law Erma Sinnen.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.
