Donald Gene Andersen was a Seaman Apprentice in the United States Naval Reserve, assigned to the SS Connecticut (Tanker).

Donald was KIA when the SS Connecticut was hit and Sunk by a Torpedo from the German Torpedo boat LS-4 Esau on 22 April 1942, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, WW II Victory Medal.
