A CO, 4TH BN, 23RD INF, 25TH INF DIV.
1LT Blake was killed by hostile enemy fire during a fire fight near his camp in Cu Che which is about 50 miles NE of Saigon near the Cambodian border.
He had enlisted in the Army after a year attending the University of Maryland and had arrived in Vietnam about 3 months before his death. Lt. Blake had received two Purple Hearts from prior combat wounds.
He was a graduate of Baltimore City College. He served as an instructor @ Ft. Knox, Kentucky and earned his paratrooper wings and Ranger tab before being sent to Vietnam.
