CORNING: Betty L. Alfman, 69, of Corning, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Fairfield Medical Center, after a brief illness.

She was an avid cook and looked forward to cooking her specialties for her family and friends, all the while taking exceptional care of her special-needs son for 46 years.

Born February 25, 1941, in Corning, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Verna McCloy.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Alfman of Corning, daughters, Brenda (Randy) Kranyik of Shelby, Laura (Jim) Sweeney of Athens and Marsha (Donnie LaFollette) Alfman of Crooksville; a brother, Dave (Wanda) McCloy of New Lexington; a sister, Cora (Don) Alfman of Crooksville; a brother-in-law, David (Barb) Alfman of Corning; and a sister-in-law, Ruth (Daryl) Marshall of La Porte, IN; she also is survived by seven grandchildren, Carrie Pride, Randy Kranyik, Brandy, Joe, and Jordan Sweeney, Colton and Shannon Lafollette; three great-grandchildren, Connor and Chase Pride, and Mason Sweeney; an uncle, Robert Bishsop of New Lexington; an aunt, Catherine Louise Shamberger of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Jeffery Alfman; and two grandchildren, Jason Michael Kranyik, and Joseph Allen Kranyik.

Calling will by Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 at Roberts Funeral Home in New Lexington and one hour prior to services from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Funeral Services 1:00 p.m. Monday at Oakfield Baptist Church. Internment will follow in Oakfield Cemetery.

The Roberts Funeral Home of New Lexington, is in charge of the arrangements.
