ELLABELL - Rev. Theron L. (Johnny) Kramer, 85, of Ellabell, GA, entered into eternal rest on October 4, 2010, surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, Inez "Mom" Kramer, his five children and their families, and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice of Statesboro, GA. He was born in 1925 in Toombs County, Georgia. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably in Germany and France in the American Campaign of World War II. After his military service ended, he and Inez married in 1945 and settled in Savannah, GA, where they would raise four daughters and a son. He was employed for over 40 years with Union Camp until his retirement in 1979. In 1963, he became a licensed Minister preaching the Gospel. He was a member for many years at the Holy Church of God in Savannah and Black Creek, and was widely known as the "Smiling Greeter". He considered it his ministry to greet every person as they entered into every worship service held at the church. Anyone attending a service at the Holy Church of God from the 60's to the 80's was met at the door with a warm handshake and a friendly smile from Johnny Kramer. He is survived by his loving wife, Inez (Mom) Kramer of Black Creek, GA; four daughters and one son; Linda (Jim) Stalnaker of Statesboro, GA; Lois (Steve) Chavis of Orlando FL; Shirley (Henry) Quick of Statesboro, GA; Tina (Ray) Edwards of Savannah, GA; and Danny (Dee) Kramer of Black Creek, GA. He is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, six sisters, and four brothers and was the last remaining sibling. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Wednesday from 1:00P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home in Statesboro, GA. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Gray and Rev. Stanley Tyson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro, GA. Mom Kramer and family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Ogeechee Area Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided during his sickness. In lieu of flowers, they request any charitable donation be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459, to keep this amazing ministry and facility working for the community.
