Gerald "Jerry" John Amerling Jr., 45, a native of Klamath Falls, died Wednesday in Highland Park, Md., following a brief illness.

He was born May 21, 1943, in Klamath Falls to Gerald and Marybelle Amerling. He attended Sacred Heart School for 12 years, graduated from Humboldt State College and recieved his master's degree in economics at Pennsylvania State College.

Mr. Amerling worked in Chicago and Pittsburgh and at the time of his death was executive controller for Copperweld Corp. in Baltimore.

Survivors include his parents, Gerald and Marybell Amerling, Klamath Falls; brother, Bill Amerling, Albany; sisters, Mary Jo Buckingham, Keno and Carole Bowen, Mount Airy, Md; also several nieces and nephews.
