Civil War Union Army Officer. Served in the Civil War as Captain and commander of Company B, 44th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was killed on the Second Day of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 2, 1863)on the skirmish line on the western slope of Little Round Top. He had a premonition of his death prior to the battle and told his friend. This friend insured his body being taken to the Blincker House on the Taneytown Road behind the Round Tops after the battle.
