George Abbott Osborne worked as a clerk in his father's store before leaving Danvers, Mass., for Franconia, N. H. where he was a bookkeeper for the Iron Works for a couple of years. From there he moved to Boston to work in a "Commercial House" before returning to his home town of Danvers (later Peabody) as Cashier for the Danvers Bank. Later, he also held the position of Secretary of the South Danvers Mutual Fire Insurance Company.
