Boby Jean was 17 years old when he died. Boby moved from Cardin, OK when he was 17 years old (1951) to Canadian, TX with his parents. He was very sad to leave Cardin because he had a girlfriend he was in love with and wanted to marry. Boby's parents made him move to Canadian with them. Around seven months later he went to a Rodeo in Follett, TX with his brother in law, John Thomas Kley and some of John's friends. They had been drinking at the rodeo. Boby left the group and when he did not return, John became concerned. John went to look for him. He found Boby in the back seat of his car. Boby had been shot somehow by a rifle that had been in the car trunk. He was alive and bleeding from a head wound. John rushed Boby to the Perryton, TX hospital. Boby never regained consciousness, but his parents and family were able to visit him in the hospital before he passed away. Boby had been very depressed about leaving his girlfriend in Oklahoma. The death certificate stated his death was a suicide. Sometime later a policeman from Perryton visited with Joe & Gladys (Boby's parents) and told them he had been studying Boby's case. He wanted to reopen it because he though it was not a suicide. Joe & Gladys Allen said no. So to this day no one knows exactly what happened.
