Mr. James Walter Baker, 71, of Rocky Face, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2008, while at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Rufus Henry Baker and Ethel (Morrison) Baker. He was also preceded in death by his sister Bessie Baker Franks, brothers C.R., Roy and Cecil Baker.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife Mrs. Sally Baker, children James and Melinda Baker of Ringgold, Vincent and Renet Baker of Cohutta, Regina Mahaffy of Rocky Face, Maria and Bill Murphy of Trenton, Melisa and Bruce Hammontree of Tunnel Hill. Stepchildren Billy and Chasity Franks of Cohutta, Connie and Mark Lindsey of Summerville, Ann and Ricky Kyle of Dalton; brothers and sister-in-law, George Baker of Ringgold, Toby and Daisy Baker of Paducah, Ky.; sisters, Francis Nix of Tunnel Hill, and Lillian Baker of Cleveland Tn.; 22 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Baker were held from the chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Ray and the Rev. Roy Gentry officiating. Pallbearers were Adam Baker, Jason Baker, Andrew Baker, PFC Alex Jones, Aaron Jones, and Cameron Franks with burial following in Dogwood Valley Cemetery, Tunnel Hill, Catoosa County, GA.
