From The Palmer Journal, September 28, 1972, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney:

William W. Stearman, 82, passed away at Litzenburg Memorial Hospital at Central City on Monday, September 25. He was the son of Asher and Laura Ann Money Stearman and was born March 8, 1890 at Campbellsville, Kentucky. Bill, as he was known by his friends, had been in poor health the past seven months.

When Bill was 18 years old, he came to Fullerton, Nebraska, where he was employed by his brother-in-law D. Milby.

On April 30, 1917 he was married to Goldie L. Moyer. To this union were born six children, William T. Stearman of Omaha, Mrs. W. B. (Virginia) Pebley of Grand Island, W. Ralph Stearman of Sepulveda, Calif., Mrs. Loren (Mayetta) Adamson of North Hollywood, Calif., Virgil L. Stearman of North Hollywood, Calif., and Betty Jean who preceded him in death in 1941.

After their marriage they lived on a farm north and east of Palmer. In 1920 they moved to Palmer where Bill began working for the Burlington Railroad. After working 41 years he retired in October 1961 from the railroad. In 1967 they observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

When a young man he was converted in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church at Coakley, Kentucky. At the time of his death he was a member of the Church of Nazarene. Bill was a good friend and a comfort to all who knew him. His life was a testimony to those about him.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his widow, three sons, two daughters, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Gowen, Yuma, Colorado, and Mrs. Ida L. Henderson, Campbellsville, Ken., one brother, Foster R. Stearman, Summersville, Kentucky, other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, one brother and one daughter.
