Betty was the oldest daughter of Roy and Lola Stubbs. She had an older brother, Roy Jr. who died in infancy. Her sisters are Barbara (Rogge), Bonnie (Chenault), and Sharon (Wyrick). She spent her life working as bookkeeper and other office work. She had a great love for music and dedicated her piano playing talents by playing for her church. She married Jerome Smith, Sr. on August 20, 1940 in Moline. They had 3 sons, Jerome Jr., Daniel, and Larry. She enjoyed sewing, crochet and interior decorating. She also enjoyed her children, 10 grandchildren, sisters, and nieces and nephews.
