Funeral services for Johnnie Oleta Asbill of Emory, Texas, will be held at 10:00AM Friday, June 25, 2010 at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Wheat officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Cemetery with John Asbill, Thomas Clarke, Bob Walter, Brent Kerley, Terry Carter, and Britt Liles serving as pallbearers. John Terry Carter, Bobby Joe Asbill, John Christian Asbill, Michael Curtis Asbill and Casey Coats will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00AM Friday morning prior to services.
Johnnie Oleta Burns was born October 29, 1922 in Miller Grove, Texas, the daughter of John Ray Burns and Birder Ely Burns. She married Alton Curtis Asbill September 1, 1940 in Rains County, he preceded her in death May 10, 2009.
Mrs. Asbill was a homemaker and retired seamstress for numerous clothing designers. She was a long time member of Elm Baptist Church.
Mrs. Asbill passed away June 21, 2010 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs.
Surviving family includes her son; Alton Curtis Asbill Jr. and wife, Sue Linda of Emory; daughters, Mary Beth Asbill Rose and husband Johnny of Emory and Ruth Ann Asbill Kerley and husband Mack also of Emory, grandchildren, Terry D. Carter, Shanna Carter Liles, Melissa Rose Coats, Tracy L. Asbill Clarke, John Houston Asbill, Debora Kerley Walter and Brent Alan Kerley; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Asbill was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Oren Burns, Ray Burns and Tump Fonville and sister, Pearl Burns Scott.
