Edna Marie Jones Black, age 76, of Little Rock died May 19, 2003. She was born in Little Rock to Dr. Herbert Fay Hempstead Jones and Edna Marie Penick Jones and was a graduate of Little Rock High School. She attended Monticello Junior College in Alton, Ill, University of Texas at Austin, and received her B.A. in English from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
She was a Realtor with Block Reality in Little Rock for 3 years. Ms. Black was a member of the Junior League of Little Rock, Country Club of Little Rock, both UAMS and Baptist Hospital Auxiliaries , Arkansas Arts Center, American Cancer Society, S.C.A.T (Senior Citizens Activities Today), and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Needlepoint, reading, and traveling were some of Mrs. Blacks favorite past times.
She is survived by her children, Hal Reed Black III and wife Brenda, Katherine Black Bishop and husband Rick all of Little Rock; four grand-children Nicole, William, Emily, and Mary Grace Bishop all of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband , Dr. Hal Reed Black Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral with the Very Reverend Henry Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral . The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.
