The Genoa Leader, April 25, 1919, p. 1, col. 4

After an illness of four months at a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, G. S. Young, the father of the editor of the Leader, passed away on Thursday last. His death had been expected from the time he entered the hospital as the physicians said he had but a few days to live, but his wonderful vitality carried him along for nearly four months. His remains reached this city on Sunday evening last and were buried in the Valley cemetery on Monday. The deceased was one of the pioneer settlers of Genoa having come here in 1879, at the time of the opening of the reservation and living here until about five years ago when he went to Cleveland to live with his daughter and grandchild. He was a veteran of the Civil war and the last of a family of eight. He was just past ninety at the time of his death.
