In 1963 at Vandenberg AFB, Cmdr Bill Leary and Mr.C got togeather and provided the AF with a solution for the ever increasing weight of the Corona spy sattellite. Thus the West coast Titan III was born and was to last for 50 years and evolve into Titan IV. The West coast Titans launched well over 300 payloads from VAFB. Most of them were Polar Spy missions; however one was a Moon Mapping shot, "Clementine".
