The Moultrie Observer, April 24, 1903, Death Of Mrs. Sloan
On the 15th of this month, Mrs. Martha Jane Sloan died at the home of her son, Mr. J. F. Sloan near Hartsfield. She was sixty six years old. Before she was married she was Miss Watson of Sampson County, N. C. Her father - moving to Georgia from that state - she has since lived here.
She was married near where Giles Mill now stands. Nine children survive her, also one brother and sister, Mr. Thomas Watson and Mrs. Josiah Johnson.
The interment took place at Bridge Creek Cemetery, funeral services conducted by Rev. David Williams.
