Jeffrey R. Conkle, age 56, of Mount Vernon, died Friday April 29, 2010 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Jeff was born April 20, 1954 in Mount Vernon to Kenneth M. and Helen I. (Wolford) Conkle and had spent his lifetime in Knox County. He was a graduate of East Knox High School and had been employed at Millwood Sand and Gravel Company.
Jeff had been baptized at the Millwood Church of Christ.
He enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Knox County Career Center in Mount Vernon where he was known as "Papoo".
Jeff loved and adored his daughter and granddaughter Trisha (Mark) Nofsinger and Alexis Tomlin who survive. Also surviving are Jeff's sisters Barbara Horn of Mount Vernon and Carol (Richard) McFerren of Fredericktown. His parents preceded him in death.
At Jeff's request there will be no calling hours and graveside services will be Monday at 2pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
