He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, Columbia an longtime former member of First Baptist Church, Webb city, the American Vocational Association, Missouri State Teachers Association, Society of Engineering Education, Honor Society of Phi Kapp Phi, a former Life Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow and scoutmaster. He was past president of the St. Louis County Chapter of the Missouri State Teachers association and the local Joplin Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and served on a nation committee of the American Vocational Association.
He married Eloise Jackson on May 18, 1946, in Mobile. She survives. Additional survivors include two sons William A., and Robert M. Barrow, four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Webb City. The Rev. Bob Easton and the Rev. Don Laughlin will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with Military Rites performed by Military Funeral Honors Team from the VFW Post 4142 and the American Legion Post 163. Pallbearers will be Gary Stover, Ethan Stover, Robert M. Barrow, Benje Barrow, Nathan Barrow and James W. Barrow. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home Webb City. Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Webb City.
