Oren Adams Dies At Independence
Strawberry Point -- Last rites were conducted today (Monday) for Oren C. Adams, 84, who died Friday, April 2 in an Independence hospital. He had been ill two weeks. The Rev. Murlin Hansel officiated at services held at 2 p. m. at Gill funeral chapel. Burial was in Edgewood cemetery.
Survivors include his wife and nine children: Mrs. Albert Holden and Mrs. Gus Lutz, Elkader; Mrs. Herman Reinhardt, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Lowell Fenton, Edgewood; Mrs. Gus Nyberg, Two Harbors, Minn.; Elzie and Henry, Strawberry Point; James, Lamont, and Mina DeBow, Maynard. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel. Also surviving are 44 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Adams was born Oct. 21, 1869 in Clayton county. He was the son of Nicholas and Polly Howard Adams. He had been a resident of Strawberry Point the past 18 years.
