Sergt Gendron Awarded Silver Star for Saving Trapped Tank Men.
Sergt Henry J. Gendron, Jr., 24, son of Henry J. Gendron of 16 Revere Street, missing in Belgium since December 16, has been awarded the Silver Star for his part in Saving the lives of tank corpsmen trapped in their burning tanks.
According to the citation accompanying the award he was on special mission when the plight of the tank crew members was discovered. At risk of his own life he aided in removing the men from the tanks and giving the treatment until medical aid could be secured."
