Lura Jeanette (McConnell) McKim was born to Charles Chester and Katherine Lena (Sharig) McConnell in Independence, MO, on November 3, 1922. Jeanette graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. She met Bill McKim, her husband of 61 years, while working at the North American Bomber Plant during World War II. Jeanette had a strong faith in God, was very active in her husband's ministry, and dedicated her life to caring for her home and family. Her love of music and her beautiful voice were her greatest gifts to her church and her family. Survivors include five children: Judy (Steve) Snyder, Merriam, KS; Daniel (Maggie), Fairbanks, AK; Barbara (Paul) Vescovo, Smithville, MO; Melody (Craig) Jerden, Shawnee Mission, KS; and Stephen (Diana), San Rafael, CA. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Gerald McKim; her brother, Bernard; and her sisters, Virginia and Mildred. Visitation will be held at Northland Baptist Church in Kansas City on August 9, at 5 p.m., with services to follow at 6:30 p.m. Services will also be held at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, MO, on August 10, at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour before. Interment will be in the Fletchall Cemetery, Grant City, MO. Memorials may be given to NorthCare Hospice in Kansas City, or Northland Baptist Church, 7101 NW Waukomis Drive, Kansas City, MO 64151.
