Born 06 Apr 1894 in Neilsville, Clark Co., WI, Sgt. Evatt was victim of pneumonia, according to the War Dept.
The son of the former Episcopal Rector at Collinsville, "Tubby" as he was known to his friends, enlisted the first of May in Base Hospital Unit No. 21 which was made up of St. Louis medical students and physicians and left on may 16 for France.
The Leighton Evatt Post 365, Collinsville, is named in honor of Humphrey L. Evatt and was chartered on 24 Dec 1919.
