Asa was the son of Peter and Esther Soper Moore.

He married Elizabeth Thomas on March 08, 1791 at St. John's Church, Piscataway, Prince Georges County, Maryland.
They had four children: Alexander, Thomas, Lucy and Nancy.

Asa Moore enlisted at Prince George's Co. Maryland in April or May 1778. He served as a Private in Captain Boyd's third Regiment and Captain Thomas Price's and Lynn's Cos. under Colonels Peter Adam's and John Stewart's Maryland Regiments. He was with the Maryland Line when they marched through Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. He was in the battle of Stony Point Maryland and was discharged at Annapolis in 1783.

The attack on Stony Point proved to be the last major action in the North.
Washington was so pleased with the victory that on July 18th, he personally rode to Stony Point and shook hands with every man that participated in the attack.

He was granted a pension on September 27, 1832. He signed a will on 13 Sep 1834 in Posey, IN. He died on 20 Sep 1834 at the age of 69 in Robb Twp, Posey, IN.
Asa had his estate probated on 17 Oct 1834 in Posey, IN. They had an Administrator's Notice on 12 Nov 1834 in Posey, IN.
He was buried in Reeves Cem, Robb Twp, Posey, IN
