Killed in a B-25 crash between Queensland Australia and New Guinea. Captain Coleman, along with 10 other soldiers, were lost.

Son of Martin Teague and Hannah Lind Hemphill Coleman. James married Frances Meroney Halyburton on October 31, 1934.

ABBEVILLE - A final report from the War Department in the case of Capt. James F. Coleman, missing between Queensland, Australia, and New Guinea since January 28, 1944 has been received by Mrs. Coleman in Abbeville. No details were available or given of the tragedy, and by reason of the 14 months lapse of time the decision is termed presumptive.

Captain Coleman was the youngest son of Mrs. Hannah Hemphill Coleman and the late M. T. Coleman. He was married in 1934 to Miss Frances Halyburton of Canton, NC.

Captain Coleman was a graduate of Clemson College, June 1923. After two years postgraduate work at Rutgers College, NJ he received an EE degree. Further study was made in educational department of Westinghouse Company. Besides a long and successful engagement with the Champion Paper and Fibre Company of Canton, NC., he did extensive electrical work in Houston, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Cleveland.

Captain Coleman is survived by his wife, Mrs. James F. Coleman; little daughter, Fran; his mother, Mrs. M.T. Coleman; a brother, Robert H. Coleman, in service as director of the Coast Guard Training School at Groton, Conn.; and two sisters, Mrs. W.P. Kennedy of Greenville and Mrs. D.T. Smith, Sr. of Abbeville.
