Mrs. Ferrand was a member of one of the most prominent families in north Louisiana. Despondent over ill health, she took her own life in her bedroom while her husband was at the post office.
She was survived by her husband, W. G. Ferrand of Columbia; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Josephine Sims of Simsboro; three brothers, Jim Sims of Ruston, R. D. Sims of Arcadia and Benjamin F. Sims of Slaughter; and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Phillips of Simsboro.
