Gene was a graduate of Westmoreland High School, where he was an avid football, basketball and baseball player. He also played Legion and semi-professional baseball. Before retiring in 2002, Gene was employed at Pocono Downs and Whitesell Brothers. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the 8th Air Force 42nd Bombardment, 42nd A&E Squadron, stationed in Maine during The Korean War. He was a member of the Trucksville Volunteer Fire Company for many years.
He was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Charles Brobst. He is survived by his wife of 46 years; one son; two daughters; six grandchildren and two brother.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 North Main Street, Shavertown, PA. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas, Luzerne, Pennsylvania, USA.
