Sam Dan Abeyta, 53, lifelong area resident passed away early Tuesday morning, June 29, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon.

The son of Eusebio and Elsie (Romero) Abeyta, he was born December 4, 1956 in Boise City, Oklahoma. Sam attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the GHS Class of 1976.

He had spent most of his working life as a truck driver and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Sam and Lisa Ann Rodgers were united in marriage on May 19, 2000 in Clayton, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eusebio Abeyta; his mother, Elsie Rivera; one brother, Ernie Rivera and one nephew, Joshua Chapman.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Abeyta and one son, Samuel Abeyta of the home; one daughter, Katrisha Marie Abeyta of Tyler, Texas and one step-daughter, Ginna Bartz of Guymon. He is also survived by five brothers and sisters: Estella and husband, LeRoy L. Sandoval, Annie Mejia, Ermie and wife, Darlene Abeyta and Carmen Rivera all of Guymon and David and wife, Rachel Rivera of Uvalde, Texas; his special goddaughter, Shanise Rivera of Guymon and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited Thursday evening, July 1st at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday morning, July 2nd at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Mike Wheelahan, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
