Fannie married Charles Burnett Shannon in 1879. He was a farmer in Calhoun County, and they were the parents of 9 children. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church in Batchtown, Illinois.
Fannie lived on the farm where she was born until the year before she died. At that time, she moved in with a daughter, Sarah Jane Funk.
In April of 1946, Fannie went to visit another daughter, Claire Johnson. She became ill there a week into her visit and died at the Johnson residence 3 weeks later.
At the time of her death, Fannie was 84 years, 6 months and 6 days old. She was survived by 5 daughters, Myrtle Foval of Hartford, Illinois, Lucy Walter of San Francisco, California, Claire Johnson, Sarah Jane Funk, and Irene Pierce of Alton, Illinois; 2 sons, Burnett Shannon of Youngstown, Ohio, and Gilbert Shannon of Perris, California; and 1 half-brother, Robert Wilson.
In addition to her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; 1 son, James Shannon; and 1 daughter, Abigail Schlanker.
Visitation was held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, Illinois on 08 May 1946. It was continued on the morning of 10 May 1946 at the Methodist Church in Batchtown until the beginning of funeral services there at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.
Fannie was buried next to her husband, Charles, who passed away in 1933.
