In 1904, Arthur John married "Libbie" Strang in Stanton, Montcalm, Michigan. They had two children: Henry (1905) and Thelma (1908). They divorced about 1907; Libbie was probably pregnant with Thelma at the time. Elizabeth married Edwin Stone. When Henry started school, she entered his name as Sam Stone, even though he was not formally adopted by her new husband. Thelma Weeks became Thelma Stone.

On April 13, 1916, in Stanton, Montcalm County, Michigan, he married Veda Verona Jennings, born Sept 11, 1888 in Day Township in the same county.

In 1919, Veda's sister-in-law Alice Mae died, and the widower, Clyde Orlo Jennings, entrusted his four young children to Veda and Albert. In the 1920 US Census, in Alma, Gratiot County, Michigan, in the household of Arthur and Veda Weeks, the Jennings children are listed as Orlo W. 8, Ralph E. 4, Arthur L. 3 and Alice M., one month old. Alice was raised as sister to Arthur and Veda's son, Marvel Edgar, born March 24, 1924. In the 1930 US Census, Arthur and Veda are shown with only two children, Alice Weeks, 11, and Marvel, 6.
