Less than a year later, Daniel married Lucinda's 34 year old sister, Behethland Brooks Simkins, widow of Jesse Simkins.
They moved to Florida and settled in Monticello, Jefferson County. It was while in Florida during the Indian Wars that Daniel found his daughter Louisa attacked at home, killing her two children.

The dates on the stone are incorrect so no picture is listed. The stone was placed nearly a century after the death.
